Bob Braunstein, C.P.G. President

After receiving Bachelor's degrees in Geology and Secondary Education, Earth Science from the State University of New York, Bob attended the University of Alaska Anchorage for his Master's of Business Administration.  Bob has been building on his geological and environmental consulting experience since 1980.  He worked as an Environmental Scientist in Connecticut, and quickly progressed to an Office Manager and Associate in South Dakota, then a Senior Environmental Scientist in Alaska.  Bob is now a Certified Professional Geologist and the Principal of BGES, which he founded in 2002.

Carol Braunstein

Office Manager

Carol has more than 10 years doing the bookkeeping and providing administrative support to BGES clients and staff.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Education and post graduate work in Native Alaskan Cultural Studies and Alaska History.

Brian Braunstein  

Senior Environmental Specialist

Brian received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Lindenwood University in Missouri.  Brian, Senior Environmental Scientist, has been with BGES since 2004.  He is an EPA-Certified Lead Inspector and Lead Risk Assessor, and an AHERA-Certified Asbestos Inspector. He manages most of BGES' hazardous building materials inventories (HBMIs) and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and performs senior-level report and data quality review.

Jayne Martin  

Senior Environmental Scientist

Jayne received her Bachelor's degree in Geology from Texas Tech University, followed by her Master's degree in Geology from Texas A&M University.  She has worked as an environmental consultant in New Mexico, Texas, Michigan, and now Alaska.  Drawing from over 30 years of experience, she has been a Senior Environmental Scientist with BGES since 2009.  Jayne can answer all of your questions about indoor air quality!

Rose Pollock Senior Environmental Scientist

Rose attended Cornell College in Iowa to receive her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology.  She joined BGES in 2014 as an entry-level Environmental Scientist.  After nearly 4 years in our Anchorage office, she is now the face of our Seattle office. Rose is certified to conduct Lead-Based Paint and Asbestos Inspections.

Carson Kent

Environmental Scientist II

Carson has a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science from Alaska Pacific University. Carson is a lifelong Alaskan and has previously held positions as a research assistant and field technician. He has a passion for fisheries science and conservation and has previously performed biological sampling and research with aquatic macroinvertebrates. Mr. Kent began with BGES in 2019.

Lisa Vitale

Environmental Scientist II

Lisa joined the BGES crew in 2020. She has a Bachelors of Science in Political Science from the Arizona State University, a Diploma of Science from James Cook University, and a Masters of Science in Marine Biology and Ecology from James Cook University.

Javier Acuna

Environmental Scientist I

Javier is a lifelong Alaskan and received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Prior to joining BGES Javier worked as a Land Steward, a YEP crew member for the Municipality of Anchorage’s Parks and Recreation division, and as a field researcher and lab technician for UAA.

Mel Wilson

Environmental Scientist I

Melanie received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biological Sciences from Arizona State University in 2023. Her work background includes field biology and veterinary medicine. She began with BGES in 2024.

Amanda Kemp Environmental Scientist I

Amanda received her bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management from Texas Tech University and her master’s in biology from Angelo State University. An avid outdoorswoman she has a passion for all things wildlife, especially birds. She has worked with birds in numerous states and around the world performing biological sampling and research with stable isotopes.
